How To: Fade Away Embarrassing Tan Lines

Just like there are some people who only like vanilla ice cream and others who only like chocolate ice cream, there is about a 50/50 split among those that love an even bronze tan and those that don’t. Some cultures are obsessed with tanning, while others think it’s a social no-no to have anything but an ivory white complexion.

Whether or not you’re a fan of tanning, at some point in our lives we’ve all been guilty of getting an unexpected sunburn and tan line. If you think there are passionate opinions about tanning, there is considerably more controversy over whether a tan line is beautiful or not. A tan line from a tank top may look normal if you’re wearing the same top every day, but try something else on and the tanline may look like a fashion faux-pas!

A tan is usually formed by overstimulation of melanin by UV light. Once the pigment-producing cells in your skin are activated by sunlight, they release melanin into the epidermis to cause a tan to form. If you’re wearing clothes or a bikini, there is less penetration of UV light underneath your clothes, causing only the sun exposed areas to darken.

So, how does one go about lightening an unwanted tan line?

Kare MD Skin Health has developed Melapads Daily Exfoliating Pads to help lighten dark discoloration on the skin, especially those related to unwanted sun exposure. Melapads contain a combination of exfoliating Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid, coupled with skin lightening Kojic Acid. Applied twice daily to the suntan line or dark spot, Melapads can help even out your skin complexion and reduce the visibility of an embarrassing tan line.

Unlike age-spots, tan lines are usually lighter in color and only contain excessive melanin in the epidermis. Facial dark spots usually have melanin trapped deeper in the dermis and are thus more time-consuming to improve.

Problem: Tan lines can be a fashion faux-pas. If you’re anywhere other than a tropical island vacation, you may want to fade away an embarrassing tan line.

Solution: Melapads Daily Exfoliating Pads are an excellent at-home daily peel that can help even out skin tone and improve your skin complexion. The product contains 60 pre-soaked pledgets for twice daily application on the face or body.
